Cal. 22 LR. S# 91-19507. Bbl. 4" with an altered fluted blade sight and WITHOUT ".22 CAL." marking; frame notched rear sight. Per noted reference (RENE), this variation was made in June 1972 or later, yet the number range is in the first year (1971–1974); there are only three known examples: S#'s 91-05568, 91-06638, and 91-07000. Trigger guard was removed, showing a spotty finish on top of the guard and bottom of the cylinder frame, as a common result of its steel components being blued as a unit after match-polishing (same for the Super Blackhawks). Black alloy ejector housing with flat-faced ejector rod head; drilled through base pin latch. A total of 64,420 Super Bearcats were produced. Oiled walnut grips with small silver eagle medallions. Not factory safety-updated. Only the fourth example of this configuration is known to exist—a true collector's find. CONDITION: original finish, as evidenced by the non-blued area stated above. Top of the blade has been filed with a backward slant, showing traces of solder as if it once had a bead or such added to its top. There is a slightly cleaned staining to the sides of the hammer and trigger, a small spot of very light oxidation to the left of the barrel legend, and light thinning throughout on the high edges. Near-excellent bore and grips. (23-6247/NW). CURIO. $1,000-1,500.
