A fine early example of an A-2 flight jacket that was part of a December 1941 contract for 20,000 jackets with Perry Sportswear Inc. The name bar on this jacket reads "C. R. GABLE" and below the name is the black & white winged skull leather patch belonging to the 490th Bomb Squadron, 341st Bomb Group, 10th Air Force. The left shoulder has a Army Air Force leather patch and the right shoulder has a leather CBI patch. The back of the jacket has a large leather CBI blood chit showing the American and Chinese flag along with the CBI shield. The leather jacket has knit cuffs and skirt with a cotton lining. The interior tag reads "TYPE A-2 DWG. NO. 301415 CONT. NO. W535 AC-23377 PERRY SPORTSWEAR INC. NEWBURGH, N.Y. PROPERTY AIR FORCE U.S. ARMY". CONDITION: the jacket is in remarkably fine condition with only minor wear and tear. The inside of the collar shows the most wear with some fraying. Zipper functions well. Cuffs and skirt show light wear. (02-24577/BF). $2000-3000.
