A good example of a 16th century German broadsword called a Katzbalger. This heavy broadsword measures 37 3/4" overall with a 31 1/2" blade that is 1 7/8" wide as it nears the hilt. The blade has two narrow fullers that run the length of the blade and two armorers marks near the hilt. Classic Katzbalger double loop guard with a gigantic flared pommel. The grip is a small 2 inch section of wood. CONDITION: all iron surfaces have been lightly cleaned and have a similar patina. PROVENANCE: Estate Collection of Nicholas Apergis.
