Cal. 64. NSN. 28” Round barrel with bayonet lug at front has British proofs at left rear. Lock with flat plate has unknown mark with crowned “V” (East India Company?) above date “1776” on tail. Lock features reinforced cock, integral rounded pan, bridled friction frizzen & feather spring with flame finial. Walnut stock is brass mounted with late style buttplate having 3” top tang. Trigger guard with husk type finial. Raised serpentine sideplate & heavy cast ramrod pipes & thimble. Stock is pinned to barrel. Ramrod is missing. CONDITION: good with restoration. Barrel & lock cleaned to silver / gray with some scattered browning. Stock retains most of its original finish with many light marks except for large repair from top of grip through to trigger guard finial with associated cleaning. Brass is nicely toned. Shiny bore has some light frosting. Lock is good. (01-21701/MGM). ANTIQUE. $1,200-1,800.
