13.5" bronze tube made in 17th century technique with iron pins in breech, .64" bore, weighs 7 pounds. 1st recessed ring at muzzle has inscription:" CARL LITIENS IN BASAV GOS MICH 1651". There was a crest behind the dolphins which had been filed off, the high ring just before vent tray is also dated "1651" but very worn. Gun is displayed on a Victorian era carriage made for this tube. CONDITION: Cannon barrel is very good overall, mottled patina, black staining, muzzle shows severe casting flaw where metal has broken off, bore is very clean and smooth, clear vent. Carriage is fair, spokes to one wheel loose but displays rare early bronze tube well. PROVENANCE: Martin Lane Historic & Western Americana Lifetime Collection. (02-21595/JS). $600-800.
