PERCUSSION CONVERSION W/ BAYONET. Cal. 69. NSN. At the beginning of the Civil War state armories were full of similar conversion muskets which were armory alterations. This is a nice survivor in original complete condition. Standard configuration w/ 42" rnd. bbl. Lock is nicely marked w/ eagle over "U.S." forward of hammer & "SPRING" / "FIELD / 1839" rear of hammer. 2 Inspector cartouches are found in flat opposite lock. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: bayonet. CONDITION: good overall. Appears original & complete w/ exception of reproduction ramrod. Metal is a mottled gray patina. Stock is well fit w/ scattered cosmetic blemishes & good inspection marks on belly & flat opposite lock. Mechanics functionable w/ clear smooth bore. Bayonet is U.S. surcharged & inspected. It is darker than gun but fits fairly well w/ gray patina having staining & pitting. (01-17223/JS). ANTIQUE. $600-800.
