BAYONET. Cal. 72. NSN. 53 1/2" Overall. Bbl. 39" oct. to rnd., bayonet lug on top, engraved w/ lg. numbers on left breech “1143”. Stocked in curly maple w/ an internally marked “KETLAND” trade lock, brass bands appear similar to French light fusil of Revolutionary War era, 2 are marked “I.C”. Trigger guard is unusual utilizing 3 brass screws & sharp pointed finial. Bayonet is crudely hand forged & fits well. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: collector notes & bayonet. CONDITION: very good overall, lock, bbl. & bayonet have mixed mottled gray to brown patina. Appears all original w/ exception of frizzen spring screw. Brass was polished, toned light mustard patina. Stock is sound w/ hand worn patina w/ some erosion forward of pan. Mechanics need attention, strong mainspring but does not hold full cock, clear smooth bore.
