MUSKET AND BAYONET. Cal. 69. NSN. 57" Overall. Bbl. 42" rnd. tapered w/ brass blade sight w/ bayonet stud on bottom. Lock is marked “KOTLAND”. Kotland most likely marked by a sm. supplier mimicking well known “KETLAND” trade locks of the era. This musket dimensionally similar to the British light infantry musket & thought fabricated after the militia act of 1792 mandating 69 caliber & smaller locks. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: bayonet. CONDITION: good to very good overall, appears complete & original, original flint lock & bbl. have mottled gray/brown patina, brass has light to medium mustard patina, stock is sound, hand worn patina scattered cosmetic blemishes. Accompanying bayonet has matching gray patina & fits well. Mechanically fine w/ smooth pitted bore. PROVENANCE: From the Collection of John "Tim" Breth Jr. (01-17760/JS). ANTIQUE. $2,000-3,000.
