This rustic and folky early camp stove likely dates from the Revolutionary War era to the dawn of the 19th century. It measures approx. 9" high and 10 1/2" from handle to handle. It has a scalloped top and a 5-hole grate that is approx. 2 1/2" lower than the top. It has one handle on each side and a small hinged door to access the interior of the stove. The stove sits on 3 riveted iron legs. CONDITION: as expected, the stove shows significant wear with plenty of oxidation. The stove appears to have been blackened at one time with plenty of finish remaining amongst the oxidation. The access door functions well. PROVENANCE: from the renowned collection of quality sporting arms from Lewis Drake together with inventory of Lewis Drake Associates. (02-23565-38/BF). $300-500.
