BOTH: cal. approx. 60. Both NSN. Bbls. 12 1/2” rnd. A fine pair of early flintlock horse pistols, likely of Italian origin. Iron rounded bbls. have flat facets on the tops & scallops on the edges. Iron locks feature faceted pans w/ decorated hammer screws. A partially legible mark at the base of the each lock appears to read, “PIERRELO C_ _ SDDA_”. Decorative iron trigger guards, buttcaps, sideplates, bbl. thimbles & entry thimbles. There is a crowned iron escutcheon at the wrist on each pistol. Stocks are of European walnut w/ wooden ramrods. CONDITION: iron has a medium gray/brown mottled patina & shows evidence of being heavily cleaned in the past. Locks hold both full & half cock but need minor adjustment. Stocks show various dents & dings commensurate w/ the great age of these pistols. 1 Pistol has an old 4 1/4" spliced repair at the muzzle end of the bbl. channel & a sm. crack from the front of the lock to the bbl. channel. Bores is fair & a bit dirty. (01-17365/BF). $1,500-2,500.
