SPORTER BOLT ACTION RIFLE. Cal. 30-06. S# 81387. Bbl. 23 3/4" part round, part octagon with low rib having wave engraved pattern; ramped dovetailed bead front sight and tangent 50-1,000 meter rear sight. Plain area in front of rear sight has factory markings plus top flat near receiver has "7,6S". Mfg. 1914 per reference book of Mauser Sporting Rifles that lists 81388 being identical to this rifle. High level craftsmanship with large checkered panels in grip area plus wrap around section on forend having slight schnable tip. Blended (raised) cheekpiece, sling swivels, steel grip cap and Mauser logo horn buttplate; 13 3/4" LOP from single stage trigger. Matching numbered action having matte pattern over chamber along with oval area marked "U.S. 1906"; similar area by serial number additionally having crown "B" and "U" proofs. Commercial hinged triggerguard assembly with push release in guard. Fully blued bolt assembly with pear shaped knob, military style safety plus root proofs of crown and crown "U". CONDITION: very nice appearance as professionally refinished. Metal surface especially nice with small area of fine pitting on bolt release, action function wear and slight thinning on high edges of triggerguard. Light stock marks along with slightly flattened diamond tops of checkering. Good to very good bright bore with light wear and hint of frosting. Nice example in readily available US caliber.
