46" x 70". 14 Hand sewn dbl. applique 4.5" blue twill stars in circle surrounding 18" sewn through red tightly woven single ply wool eagle. About 2", 2 ply heavy cotton sleeve on leading edge has apparent later addition of two well patinaed hand made brass grommets at either end. "Delaware" written in blue ink near one grommet. Body of flag is light weight single ply white bunting. This design is unusual & w/ different color combinations similar to flags attributed to Sarah McFadden of the 1870's & 80's. This flag is of the type that was flown on a river steam ship, possibly named "Delaware" CONDITION: fair to good overall. 98% Intact w/ 4-5" reductions at either end of hoist and upper right hand corner in bunting. Scattered mothing as can be seen in photos. Color is good, and presents nicely. (02-16677/2130/JS). $2,500-4,500.
