1) Overall length: 40 1/2". Blade length: 34". Plain triangular blade w/ a deep fuller on 1 side. Plain brass hilt w/ copper wire wrapped grip. Underside of guard has a commemorative inscription likely added in the 19th century that reads, “Lt. Thomas Helm 3rd Va Regt”. No scabbard. CONDITION: blade has a dark gray patina. Hilt has a mellow mustard patina. Grip is complete.
2) Overall length: 38". Blade length: 31". Triangular blade w/ rudimentary foliate etching in the lower section. Gilded brass hilt w/ disk guard, short pas d’ane decorated knuckle bow & similarly decorated urn pommel. Copper & silver wire & tape wrapped grip. Etching on the bottom of the guard reads, “1772 Capt Patrick Sinclair”. Inscription was likely added at a later date. No scabbard. CONDITION: blade shows wear but no abuse. Disk guard is loose due to the lack of a washer. Gilding on hilt is approx. 40% intact. Exceptionally attractive grip is complete & undamaged. (02-16673-10/BF). $1,000-1,500.
