1) A nice example of a British M1845 infantry officer's sword measuring 40 3/4" overall with a 33" etched blade. The etching includes a crowned "VRI" on each side and various foliate motifs. Gilded brass hilt with a crowned "VRI" in oval on the guard. Wire wrapped leather grip and a plated scabbard. CONDITION: blade shows light wear. Hilt is a bit misshaped and retains only a trace of original gilding. Grip is about 90%+, and the wire is complete. Scabbard has a loight gray patina. 2) An attractive example of a WWI era British Engineer officer's sword measuring 40 1/2" with a 32 1/2" etched blade. The etching includes the crests of the Royal Engineers, ciphers, and various foliate motifs. The blade has an etched mark near the hilt that reads "HENRY WILKINSON PALL MALL LONDON". Pierced plated basket guard with a crowned "VR" and a wire wrapped shark skin grip. Bright plated scabbard. CONDITION: sword shows light wear overall. (02-24107/BF). NON-GUN. $400-700.
