1) An US M1860 enlisted cavalry saber measuring 43 1/4" overall with a plain 35" blade. The blade has a single large fuller with a secondary fuller near the spine. The ricasso is pitted but appears to be marked "EMERSON & SILVER TRENTON NJ" & "U.S D.F.M 1864". Brass semi-basket guard with a wire wrapped leather grip. Iron scabbard. CONDITION: blade has a dark oxidized patina, and the hilt has a deep and somewhat crusty patina. The grip has traces of leather remaining but has been wrapped in electrical tape. Scabbard has a dark oxidized patina. 2) A good example of an French import US M1840 style enlisted cavalry saber measuring 43 1/2" overall with a 34" plain blade with a single large fuller and a secondary fuller near the spine. The spine of the blade has French markings giving the model as 1822 and the date of manufacture as 1879. Plain brass hilt with semi-basket 2 branch guard and wire wrapped leather grip. Iron scabbard. CONDITION: blade has a light gray patina with some staining and the hilt has a mellow brass patina. Grip and wire are complete. Scabbard has a medium gray patina.(02-24095/BF). NON-GUN. $450-650.
