1) CUTLASS. A good example of a M1860 naval cutlass measuring 31" overall with a 25" single fullered blade. No markings are visible at the ricasso likely due to reconditioning in the 1890's. Brass cup hilt stamped "16M" over "207" in the quillon area. Wire wrapped leather grip. No scabbard. CONDITION: blade has a dark patina with nicks to the edge. Hilt is loose and has a separation at the lower cup and a crack at the top of the knuckle bow. Grip shows minor losses at the base.
2) NCO. A good example of a M1840 NCO sword measuring 39 1/4" overall with a 32 1/2" blade. Single fullered blade marked at the ricasso "F.H" within a dotted oval indicating an imported weapon. Brass hilt with double kidney guard and plain knuckle bow. Gilded brass grip. Brass mounted leather scabbard. CONDITION: blade has a medium gray patina with some pitting near the tip. Hilt has a mellow mustard patina. Grip retains much of its original gilding. Scabbard is well worn but not broken and is missing its tip. (02-17988/BF). $500-700.
