1) NCO. A good example of a Civil War period US M1840 NCO sword measuring 39 1/4" overall with a plain 32 1/4" single fullered blade. The blade is marked at the ricasso "A.H.K". Solid brass hilt and brass mounted leather scabbard. CONDITION: blade and hilt show very light wear. Scabbard shows moderate wear and has a break 12 1/2" up from the tip. 2) FOOT OFFICER. A fine example if a non-regulation foot officer's saber measuring 40 1/2 overall with an etched 31 7/8" blade. The blade is etched with foliate, patriotic, and military motifs, and the ricasso is stamped "W. CLAUBERG (knight) SOLINGEN". Gilded brass hilt with a pierced basket guard featuring a cutout eagle and the letters "U S". Wire wrapped sharkskin grip and black painted scabbard. CONDITION: blade and hilt show light wear. Scabbard may have been repainted black quite a while ago. (02-24262-1/BF). NON-GUN. $600-900.
