1) STAFF. A fine example of a Confederate Staff Officer's button manufactured in England during the war and likely transported to the Confederacy via blockade runner. Albert # CS-1-A2. Face depicts a large droop winged eagle with a shield on its chest bearing the letters, "C S A". The eagle is surrounded by 11 six pointed stars at the border. The reverse reads, "HALFMANN & TAYLOR . MONTGOMERY . ". Very slightly bent shank. CONDITION: button retains 40% of its original gilded finish.
2) INFANTRY. A very good example of a Confederate manuscript "I" button for infantry soldiers, manufactured in England during the war and likely transported to the Confederacy via blockade runner. Albert # CS-175-A1. Face depicts a fancy manuscript "I" with numerous flourishes. The reverse reads, " HALFMANN & TAYLOR . MONTGOMERY . ALABAMD". Very slightly bent shank. CONDITION: button has a pleasing rich mustard patina. (02-17879/BF). $1,500-1,900.
