& STATE OF MISSISSIPPI BUTTONS.
1) ARTILLERY. A very rare example of a Confederate Artillery button manufactured by William Bird of London during the war and imported via blockade runner. Albert # CS-107-A. Face depicts an old English "A" on a plain field. The rare tinned iron reverse reads, "WILLM BIRD & CO * LONDON * ". Full straight shank. CONDITION: button shows nearly all original gilded finish.
2) MISSISSIPPI. A fine example of a Mississippi State Militia Infantry button utilized by Confederate Forces during the Civil War. This button was manufactured in the North just prior to the war and retailed by Hyde & Goodrich of New Orleans. Albert # MP-4-A. Face depicts a central 5 pointed star with a large "I" in the center and "MISSISSIPPI" around the outside border. The reverse reads RMDC, "HYDE & GOODRICH . N.O. . ". Full nearly straight shank. CONDITION: button shows areas original gilted finish. (02-17716-12/BF). $1,900-2,400.
