BUTTONS.
1) A very fine example of a locally produced Civil War period Virginia Militia button, made by Wildt, worn by soldiers serving in the Confederacy. Albert # VA-21-A. Face depicts the State Seal of Virginia with "VIRGINIA" above. The reverse reads RMDC, "W.WILDT & SON RICHMOND VA. ". Full straight shank. CONDITION: button has a wonderful rich mellow brass patina.
2) Another very fine example of a locally produced Civil War period Virginia Militia button, likely made by Wildt, worn by soldiers serving in the Confederacy. Albert # VA-22-A. Face depicts the State Seal of Virginia with "VIRGINIA" above. The reverse has a blank depressed channel with a star opposite a dot. Full straight shank. CONDITION: this button also has a wonderful rich mellow brass patina. (02-17716-10/BF). $1,700-2,200.
