1) This sword may be of German origin and measures 36 1/2" overall with a 30" blade. The plain blade has a marking at the ricasso that appears to be German with the dates 1878-1898. Plain sheet iron guard with a wire wrapped sharkskin grip. Iron scabbard. CONDITION: blade shows scattered spotty corrosion, but the hilt and scabbard are more universally oxidized. Grip is better than 90% intact. 2) This is a standard infantry or artillery hanger used by many countries in Europe and first seen on the battlefields of the Napoleonic era with French troops. Overall length is 28 3/4" and the plain flat blade measures 23". Solid brass hilt and no scabbard. CONDITION: overall moderate wear. (02-24091/BF). NON-GUN. $200-400.
