1) ARMY. Overall length: 36”. Blade length: 27 1/2". The blade shows a full-length hi with a copper habaki. Gilded brass tsuka in the kyu-gunto style with a pierced guard and a 10-petal cherry blossom on the backstrap. Wire-wrapped fish skin grip. Plated saya. CONDITION: blade is stained with a mottled appearance. Tsuka shows only traces of the original gilded finish. Saya shows bubbling to the plating, and the lower 5” show nearly 100% oxidation. 2) KATANA. Overall length: approx. 38”. Blade length: 26 1/2". The blade shows an irregular hamon with a brass habaki. The nakago has a single mekugi-ana and no signature. There are two seppa above and below the gilded standard 4-cherry blossom tsuba. Matching fuchi and kabuto-gane. Brown tsuka-ito over white same and gilded 3-cherry blossom menuki. Leather-covered wooden saya. CONDITION: blade has a few nicks to the ha. Tsuka shows wear and should be rewrapped with the original tsuka-ito and the same put in its correct position. We do not consider the saya with this katana to be original to the sword; it does not have the proper fit. (02-22963-1/BF). $400-700.
