1) NICE LATE WWII ISSUE M1 HELMET WITH 3rd INFANTRY DIVISION UNIT MARKING AND WESTINGHOUSE LINER. This high condition example was likely marked with the 3rd Infantry Insignia post WWII, however the M1 helmet was only mfg from 1941-45. The helmet is stamped with the heat lot 1058A on the inside surface. The liner was is marked with the Westinghouse "W" marking located on the inside crown area. The liner has an OD green twill cloth suspension liner held in place with triangular washers. The leather sweat band is present as is the leather chinstrap. CONDITION: a fine example with updated unit markings that were applied post war. The helmet shows some scuffs and signs of use. Unit markings are vivid. The liner is in great shape with a very good suspension system and chin strap.2) INTERESTING LATE WWII ISSUE M1 HELMET WITH THE PERSONALIZED WESTINGHOUSE LINER OF CAPT. NEMETH. The helmet carries a late war 287A heat lot stamping on the inside face of the helmet. The liner carries the Westinghouse stamp on the crown of the liner. The liner has an OD green twill cloth suspension liner held in place with triangular washers is personalized with Capt. Nemeth's handwritten name. The leather sweat band is present as is the leather chinstrap. The liner exterior is unit marked with an upside down red triangle containing a yellow 98 and captain insignia on the over the frontal eyelet hole. CONDITION: overall nice example with some signs of use. We are not sure when the insignia and unit markings were applied and could possibly have been added post war. There is some loss to the right unit insignia. Liner is good with some mild crazing to the leather. (02-26252/ZAL). NON-GUN. $400-600.
