This lot consists of 1 New York Militia M1881-style spike helmet with a New York front plate bearing the number "10". Helmet has 4-piece construction with crossed rifles side buttons, rear shield-shaped strap hook, oak leaf spike base, and fluted spike. The interior label reads, in part, "RIDABOCH & CO". / 1 New York Militia M1881 spike helmet with an incorrect US First Infantry front plate. Helmet has 4-piece construction with crossed rifles side buttons, oak leaf spike base, and fluted spike. The interior label reads, in part, "RIDABOCH & CO". / 1 GAR cap in a style reminiscent of a US M1895 cap. The black wool cap has a gold bullion band with a gold bullion chinstrap supported by "GAR" side buttons. The front insignia is an M1872 crossed cannons with the letters "GAR" above. The interior of the hat has a maker’s mark that reads, in part, "LOUIS E. STILZ & BRO". / 2 Interlocking link chinstraps for M1881 spike helmets. CONDITION: both the helmets and the hat show very light wear and remain solid. One chinstrap has a broken backing. (02-22877/BF). $400-600.
