1) CAVALRY. A good example of a US style imported M1860 Cavalry saber measuring 43 1/2" overall with a 35" plain unmarked blade. Brass semi-basket guard with a wire wrapped leather grip and iron scabbard. The scabbard support rings and loops are 4 inches apart similar to an M1906. CONDITION. blade ha a medium gray patina and the hilt has a dark rich aged patina. The grip has a few wear through spots on the high points. scabbard is solid but has an oxidized patina. 2) ARTILLERY. A rough example of a US style imported M1840 Light Artillery saber measuring 37 1/4" overall with a plain unmarked 32" blade. Brass hilt with wire wrapped leather grip. No scabbard. CONDITION: blade has a crusty dark patina and the hilt has a very dark patina. The grip leather is almost totally gone and the wire present but dislodged. (02-24494-1/BF). $300-500.
