1) A nice example of an M1903 officer’s saber measuring 38" overall with a 31 3/4" single-fullered blade. Blade is etched over the first 19" with various foliate, patriotic, and military motifs, including a panel that reads "Mich. Agri. College." Three-branch guard with downturned, pendulous quillon. Plain backstrap with stepped pommel. Black enameled steel grip. Plated iron scabbard missing its throat. Scabbard is attached to a large brown leather "Sam Brown" belt with sword strap and over-the-shoulder strap. CONDITION: blade has an overall light gray patina with some spotted discoloration. Hilt is a bit misshaped, and grip paint is approx. 75%. Scabbard shows some losses of finish. Belt is quite pliable and has a pleasing finish. 2) A very nice example of an M1903 officer’s saber measuring 36 3/4" overall with a 29 3/4" single-fullered blade. Blade is etched over the first 18" with various foliate, patriotic, and military motifs, including a panel on one side that reads "CULVER" and a larger panel on the other side that is blank for the owner’s name." Three-branch guard with downturned, pendulous quillon. Plain backstrap with a one-step pommel cap. Black composite grip. Plated iron scabbard missing its throat. Scabbard is attached to a large brown leather "Sam Brown" belt with sword hanger and over-the-shoulder strap. CONDITION: blade shows traces of original factory polish. Hilt generally shows light wear, as does the scabbard. (02-22918-3/BF). $400-600.
