38 CAL. REVOLVERS PICTURED IN "US MILITARY HOLSTER & RELATED ACCOUTREMENTS" BY EDWARD SCOTT MEADOWS. 1) MODEL 1889. This holster is pictured on page 530 of said book. Adopted in 1889 for the new Colt 38 cal. double action revolver made of black bridle leather. per said book "Although these holsters are unmarked, the author is of the opinion that they were all made on contract by William Read & Son of Boston Massachusetts, and Henry A. Brown and Peet & Company, both of Springfield, Massachusetts". Flap is embossed "USN". 2) MODEL 1895. This holster is pictured on page 535 of said book. Similar to the Model 1889 revolver, however made of lighter leather with "USN" stamped on brass snap. CONDITION: holsters are in fair to good overall condition with wear, light flexing & spots of mildew commensurate with age. Brass parts show patina & verdigris.
