1) E.F. HORSTER. Despite Horster producing their Army dagger fittings in-house, Horster purchased Luftwaffe fittings from other makers and casters. This example has a crossguard that has incised oak leaves on the quillon arms similar to examples by Paul Weyersberg. The grips are plaster filled white celluloid with brass twist wire and concealed wire hole. The pommel appears to be of Eickhorn or SMF mfg. The scabbard appears to be mfg by Alcoso. CONDITION: overall good. The blade has some small freckled patches of oxidation, blunted tip & some edge dings. Grips have a few handling marks. The fittings have a similar amount of handling marks and patina with the exception of the ferrule which has a dark patina similar to the steel scabbard. The lower scabbard hanger band is broken through.2) ALCOSO. Finished with an airplane grey finish. The crossguard has incised oak leaves in styling of Alcoso. The pommel is Alcoso. The mustard grips are solid celluloid with tight twist wire wrap. Accompanied with correct Alcoso scabbard. CONDITION: overall very good. The blade has some minor freckles. The airplane grey finish shows wear on the high edges. Nice grips. Scabbard has some patinaed oxidation in the exposed areas from minor finish wear. (02-26635/ZAL). NON-GUN. $500-900.
