1) BLOCKADE RUNNER. A fine example of an original Kriegsmarine Blockade Runner Badge featuring a transport/cargo ship being led by a silvered German eagle grasping a party symbol. The entire badge is encircled in a chain motif. The reverse has a wide pin and is marked “FEC. OTTO PLAZZEK BERLIN AUSF. SCHWERIN BERLIN”. CONDITION: there is some minor bubbling to the plated surface of the badge. The tip of the pin is bent upwards, as is often seen. 2) MINESWEEPER. A good example of a Kriegsmarine Minesweeper Badge featuring an oak leaf wreath with a central ocean scene depicting an exploding mine. At the top of the wreath is a German eagle grasping a party symbol. The reverse has a wide pin and is marked “FEC. OTTO PLAZZEK BERLIN AUSF. SCHWERIN BERLIN”. CONDITION: badge shows light overall wear with some oxidation to the finish. The pin catch on the reverse is broken. 3) SIX STICKPINS. The stickpins include two blockade runner stickpins with knurled pins, three minesweeper stickpins with knurled pins, and a miniature minesweeper badge that has been repaired with a straight pin. CONDITION: all stickpins show light wear, with the exception of the miniature minesweeper badge. PROVENANCE: from the collection of Joel Thone. (02-22590/BF). $550-750.
