1) ENLISTED. A good example of a late-war, heavy wool enlisted army uniform for a private in the Transportation Corps. Uniform has a 6-button front (one missing) and four flap pockets on the front with one button missing. Above the right breast pocket is an enlisted grade eagle, and the collar shows two simple collar tabs for a private. The shoulder straps are slip-on style in dark green wool with light blue piping. The right side of the liner has ink stampings that read "39 42 H 42 92 67 59". CONDITION: the uniform shows significant use with a 4" x 3" field repair on the right sleeve. The balance of the uniform is quite solid, with only a few scattered moth nips. 2) OFFICER. A very good quality officer’s tunic with a 5-button front and four flap pockets. The collar is dark green wool, and the lining is olive green rayon. Sadly, the uniform is void of all insignia, but the ghosts of a breast eagle, collar tabs, and shoulder boards exist. There are also loops for an extensive ribbon bar and a badge on the left breast pocket. The inside pocket has a label that reads "WILHELM HOLTERS BERLIN W.8. WILHELMSTR. 49". The name written on the tag is difficult to interpret but appears to read "Hptm. v. Taumserntein . Equird No. 485(ink) im Marz(ink) 19 35(ink)". CONDITION: there is a small tear in the right collar and light soiling on the left sleeve. The back shows a few small moth nips. The left sleeve also has a 5" x 2 3/4" field repair. (02-22797-6/BF). $800-1,200.
