Cal. 20 bore 2-3/4". S# 391385 (1951). These well made guns were produced for a few years following WWII as Sauer got back into production. This gun has 28" shoe lump barrels with maker's name and address on raised matted top rib. Krupp steel information is on tops of barrels. Barrel flats are stamped with July 1951 East German nitro proofs for 2-3/4" chambers. Case hardened sidelock action features non-automatic safety, crossbolt third fastener, side clips, raised rib tumbler end cocking indicators and double triggers. Action and locks are engraved with sprays of large scroll. Maker's name is on trigger plate. Blued trigger guard with scroll on bow has S# on short tang. Relatively plain European walnut straight grip buttstock measures 14-5/8" over brown leather covered pad. Point pattern checkering is at grip and a silver oval on toeline is engraved "J.H.P.G.". Matching long splinter ejector forend with schnabeled horn tip has Deeley release. MEASUREMENTS: BBLS: Bore Diameter: L .627. R .627. Restriction: L .033 (full). R .018 (mod). Wall thickness: L .034. R .036. STOCK: DAH: 2-1/4". DAC: 1-7/16". CAST: neutral. LOP: 14-5/8". WEIGHT: 6 lb. 5 oz. CONDITION: very fine. Metal retaining over 80% original finishes with some marks and scratches. Wood retains most of its original oil finish with marks associated with relatively light use. Bores are bright and shiny. Action is tight. Mechanically fine. A rugged little bird gun. (25-520/MGM).
