WINCHESTER 4TH MODEL BULLET MOLDS. These molds are listed on pages 125-131 of "Reloading Tools of the Black Powder Era 1850-1910 Vol. 2" by Rowe & Curtis. The molds are all marked on the right side w/ the standard "MANUFACTURED BY THE / WINCHESTER REP ARMS CO / NEW HAVEN, CONN. U.S.A.". The 4th Model molds are all of blued steel construction including handles. Two of the molds are marked on the handles "32 W.C.F.". One made w/o locating pin. The third mold is marked on the handle "45-90" & is made w/ locating pin. The 5th Model molds are made w/ round wooden handles equipped w/ brass ferrules. One mold has a consignor tag stating that it is for the 38 Short Colt casting a heel bullet of 125 grains. Mold is marked on the handle "38. S.". One mold is contained in the bottom part of its original pasteboard box which has been heavily taped. Mold handle marked "38 55". Included is original factory instruction sheet for the 1894 reloading tool, an unmarked decapping base & the decapping pin for the unmarked 1894 tool. The balance of the molds are in the following calibers: 25-20 S.S. / 45 Round (Round Ball) / 38-55 SR (Wood handles are not present, only metal fittings) / 45 Gov, two molds / 40-82 / 38-56 W.C.F. / 38-55, five molds / 44 W.C.F., three molds / 44 Russ / 38 W.C.F. / 32 W.C.F., two molds (One w/ missing sprue plate) / 25-20. CONDITION: molds are in generally serviceable condition. The walnut handles are generally solid w/o notable cracks. Molds retain on an average 50-70% original blue finish w/ areas of patina. Cavities examined appear to be serviceable & relatively free from oxidation. Markings are generally legible. Several molds have notable shallow dents on the outside of the block area from attempts to dislodge bullets. PROVENANCE: Estate of Russell Dickerman. (02-24455/RW). NON-GUN. $1,000-2,000.
