EARLY MILITARY BUTTONS.
1) YANKEE. This group all dates from the Civil War and consists of 9 eagle "I" coat buttons. / 3 Staff officer coat buttons. / 1 Massachusetts Militia coat button. / 1 Coat Navy button. / 1 Vest sized Navy button. / 1 Enlisted eagle button. / 1 Cuff eagle "C" button. / 1 Cuff staff officer button. / 10 Cuff eagle "I" buttons.
2) EARLY BUTTONS. This group dates between 1800 and 1825. They are all excavated. The group consists of 1 GI-28-R2 cuff button with bent shank. / 1 GI-32-R2C coat button. / 1 GI-32-R2C cuff button with bent shank. / 4 GI-36-TYPE coat buttons, 2 with full shanks. / 2 GI-30-TYPE coat buttons with no shanks. / 2 GI-30-TYPE cuff buttons with no shanks. / 1 English Navy captain's coat button with no shank. / 1 GI-79-TYPE coat button. / 1 AY-55-TYPE cuff button. / 1 RF-7 coat button with no shank and quite rough. CONDITION: Yankee buttons all have shanks and no major faults. Excavated buttons as expected, vary widely in condition. All appear to be excavated and all have discernable details.
