1) British M1822 Infantry officer's sword measuring 37 3/4" overall with an etched blade. The etched pipe back blade shows several foliate motifs along with British patriotic and military motifs. Due to wear, no makers mark is apparent on the blade. Gilded brass semi-basket guard with a George IV cipher in the center. Wire wrapped sharkskin grip with a gilded sword knot attached. Gilded brass mounted leather scabbard. CONDITION: blade is quite worn and shows some evidence of sharpening / buffing. Hilt is quite solid with better than 50% of the original gilding remaining. Grip shows light wear but some of the wire is dislodged. Knot is solid. Scabbard is complete but a bit floppy. Mounts retain about 40% of original gilding. 2) British M1822 Infantry officer's sword measuring 37 3/4" overall with a pipe back blade. Due to wear, no makers mark is apparent on the blade. Gilded brass semi-basket guard with a Victoria cipher in the center. Originally a wire wrapped sharkskin grip with only the wood core remaining. No scabbard. CONDITION: blade is exceptionally worn and shows some evidence of sharpening / buffing. Hilt is misshaped with no gilding remaining. Grip consists of a wood core only. 3) British M1855 Rifle Volunteer sword measuring 39 3/4" overall with an etched blade that shows foliate motifs, a crowned " VR ", rifleman horn, and " VOLUNTEER RIFLES ". The blade's ricasso is marked " R. S. CARDEN 200 PICCADILLY LONDON. Iron semi-basket hilt showing a pierced guard featuring a crowned rifleman's horn. Wire wrapped shark skin grip and an iron scabbard. CONDITION: blade has a light patina with scattered stains. Hilt shows a gray patina with light wear. Grip shows light wear. Scabbard has a pleasing patina with no notable dents. PROVENANCE: From the PMRB Collection. (02-25861/BF). NON-GUN. $500-800.
