1) FRENCH. Overall length: 26 3/8”. Blade length: 19 1/4". Plain blade with a raised medial ridge. There is a partial makers mark at the ricasso along with the date “1832”. Solid brass hilt regimentally marked on the crossguard. Double disk quillons with concentric circles. Horizontally ribbed grip. Brass mounted leather scabbard. CONDITION: blade has a somewhat mottled gray patina. Hilt has a uniform mustard patina. Scabbard mounts have a dark patina. Leather body remains quite solid.
2) USMC. Overall length: 36”. Blade length: 30 1/4". A 20th century United States Marine Corps NCO saber with foliate and patriotic etching over half the blade. Each side of the blade features a 5” panel that reads “UNITED STATES MARINES”. Gilded brass hilt of a M1850 foot officers sword style. Wire wrapped leather grip. Gilded brass mounted leather covered scabbard. CONDITION: blade shows original factory polish. Hilt and scabbard both show light overall wear.
3) FINNISH. Overall length: 42 1/2". Blade length: 30 5/8”. A model 1922 Finnish officer’s sword. Plain blade with a narrow central fuller, stamped at the ricasso “E. & F. HORSTER SOLINGEN”. Gilded brass hilt with Finnish crowned lion in the guard. Crowned pommel and plain backstrap. Wire wrapped sharkskin grip. Large black and gold bullion sword knot. Black painted iron scabbard. CONDITION: blade shows substantial original factory polish. Hilt retains nearly all of its original gilding. Grip shows light wear and sword knot shows moderate wear. Scabbard shows minor scuffs to the black finish. (02-16433-2/BF). $700-1000.
