1) SHORT SWORD. Overall length: 30 1/2". Blade length: 22 1/2". A European short sword likely for the artillery & probably originating in 1 of the coastal Mediterranean countries. Plain blade has a raised medial ridge. The guard is a simple ellipse w/ reeded ferrule & repose pommel. The top of the pommel cap is covered in leather. Turned, reeded wood grip. Iron mounted leather scabbard. CONDITION: blade has a dark patina w/ overall light pitting. The hilt shows light to moderate wear w/ 1 notable grip crack. Scabbard shows light to moderate wear w/ a period repair near the tip. (02-16121/BF).
2) GERMAN INFANTRY OFFICER. Overall length: 39". Blade length: 32". Blade has a lg. central fuller & is etched throughout 2/3 of its length w/ various foliate motifs along w/ a royal cypher & the words, "( )ah Yac Bitzer fecit in Nurnberg 1833". Gilded brass hilt w/ mother of pearl 2 panel grips. Gilded brass mounted metal scabbard. CONDITION: blade has a medium gray patina & shows some wear to the etching. 1 Side of the guard, featuring a horse’s hoof finial, is missing. 2 Of the 3 studs, on either side of the grip, are missing. Gilding is approx. 60% intact. Some gilding is also present on the scabbard mounts. Scabbard body was likely covered in leather at some point, but it is now missing. (02-16136/BF).
3) SCOTTISH TYPE BROADSWORD. Overall length: 39 1/2". Blade length: 33". Blade has a 16" narrow central fuller on each side. The typical Scottish form hilt has an intricate basket design w/ a trapezoidal pommel. Grip is wire wrapped sharkskin. No scabbard. CONDITION: blade has a dark oxidized patina as does the iron of the hilt. Grip actually shows light wear but is original to the sword. (02-16145/BF). $700-1,100.
