1) Stein measures 10 1/2" in height and features a Bavarian crowned spray of arms & flags as a central motif. The top reads “Infanterie Regt. 11. Comp. 1903/05-Munchen”. The base reads “Ernst Winterling”. Other scenes depicted on the stein include bayonet practice, guard duty, saying goodbye to your wife, drinking beer, and more. The pewter lid depicts a German soldier standing with a lion on his right side. The interior lithophane depicts a reclining nude female. The maker's mark on the base reads “100 Jahr. (crown) (logo) Germany”. This stein is well-made but we are unsure of the period of manufacture. CONDITION: stein shows light wear overall. 2) This stoneware stein measures approx. 5” in height. The front of the stein reads “Utssz.-Korps 2. J.R.14. (yellow & orange shield) Kupfer”. Metal lid with pewter thumb lever. CONDITION: light wear overall. 3) This stoneware stein measures approx. 5” in height. The front of the stein shows an imperial battle flag. The lid & thumb lever appear to be aluminum. CONDITION: light wear overall with numerous tiny scratches to the lid from improper cleaning. PROVENANCE: From the Lifelong Collection of Glen E. Mattox. (02-18647/BF). $200-400.
