1) INFANTRY. This helmet has a 1 piece body with no interior label. The eagle front plate has crossed rifles with a silver lyre on the shield. The side buttons are crossed rifles. The aiguilette & plume are white indicating use by a mounted infantry band. CONDITION: helmet body is quite solid. Aiguilette & plume are a bit soiled. Plume holder shows varying patinas.
2) ARTILLERY. This helmet has a 1 piece body with no interior label. The eagle front plate has crossed cannons with a silver “5” on the shield indicating use by the 5th Artillery. The side buttons are crossed cannons. The aiguilette & plume are red indicating use by the artillery. CONDITION: helmet body is quite solid. Aiguilette & plume show very light wear. Plume holder shows varying patinas.
3) CAVALRY. This helmet has a 1 piece body with an interior label that reads “RAYMOLD & WHITLOCK MILITARY Contract, June 4, 1883 GOODS 39 West 14th St., N. Y.”. The eagle front plate has crossed sabers. The side buttons are also crossed sabers. The helmet cords & plume are deep yellow indicating use by the cavalry. CONDITION: helmet body is quite solid. Helmet cords do not include aiguilette or waffles and the cords are a bit soiled. Plume holder shows varying patinas. PROVENANCE: From the Raymond Darida Estate. (02-18035-3/BF). $900-1,300.
