1) SITTING BULL. An 18 3/4" x 25 3/4” framed poster from the Amon Carter Museum of Fort Worth, TX. The poster depicts a well-known view of Sitting Bull, or Tata’nka I’Yota’nka, taken by David F. Barry around 1886. CONDITION: only handling wear. 2) TWO MOONS. A 13” x 16” framed photograph taken in 1901 of the Northern Cheyenne war Chief Two Moons on the Custer Battlefield. The photograph was taken on the 25th anniversary of the Custer Massacre at Little Bighorn. There are enumerable gravestones visible in the photograph. CONDITION: very light wear overall. 3) 3 MAIDENS. A 20 1/4" x 12” framed photograph by Herman Schnitzmeyer, taken in 1916. The scene depicts 3 Native American maidens, likely of the Pend d’Oreilles Tribe of the Northwest Plateau, in traditional Plains dress, on the rocks overlooking a raging river. CONDITION: photograph is slightly foxed & faded. Frame shows light wear. PROVENANCE: from the Lifelong Collection of Glen E. Mattox. (02-18954-1/BF). $75-125.
