1) US M1872 enlisted Cavalry saber measuring 38 1/4" overall with a plain single fullered 31 3/4" blade marked on the ricasso " 5 GERMANY ". Plain brass hilt with a 2-branch guard. Wire wrapped leather grip and a plated scabbard. CONDITION: blade has a mottled light gray patina. Hilt has a pleasing mellow mustard patina. Grip is undamaged. Scabbard has minor loss of finish. 2) US M1872 officer's Cavalry saber measuring 39 1/4" overall with a plain single fullered 32" blade marked on the ricasso " D. ABLATE & F. DE CARO NEW YORK ". Eagle & foliate decorated gilded brass hilt with a 2-branch guard. Wire wrapped leather grip and a gilded brass mounted plated scabbard. CONDITION: blade has a mottled light gray patina. Hilt has a pleasing mellow mustard patina and traces of original gilding. Grip is undamaged. Scabbard body has minor loss of finish and the mounts show traces of original gilding. 3) US M1872 officer's Artillery saber measuring 39 " overall with a plain single fullered 32" unmarked blade. Foliate decorated gilded brass hilt. Wire wrapped sharkskin grip and a gilded brass mounted plated scabbard. CONDITION: blade has a mottled light gray patina. Hilt has a mellow mustard patina and traces of original gilding. Grip is undamaged. Scabbard body has loss of finish near the tip and the mounts show traces of original gilding. (02-25642/BF).
