1) BRITISH. A pattern 1821 British Artillery officer’s sword measuring 39 1/2" overall with a 32 3/4" etched blade. Etching includes various foliate and British patriotic motifs. The sword is not maker-marked. Plain two-branch, semi-basket guard with downturned quillon, plain backstrap, and stepped pommel. Wire-wrapped sharkskin grip. Plated iron scabbard. There is a partial sword knot attached. CONDITION: blade shows some active oxidation. Hilt generally has a dark patina. Grip and wire are complete yet worn. Sword knot is in relic condition. Scabbard shows a couple of very shallow dents. 2) PRUSSIAN. An M1873 Prussian enlisted artillery saber measuring 36 1/4" overall with a 29 3/4" plain blade showing a single wide fuller. Iron hilt with two languets and a downturned quillon. Plain iron knuckle bow, backstrap, and bird’s head pommel. Leather-wrapped grip and iron scabbard. CONDITION: blade has a medium gray patina and shows some evidence of sharpening. Hilt has a dark patina, as does the scabbard. 3) US. A reproduction Civil War saber that resembles an M1850 foot officer’s sword. Overall length: 42 1/2". Blade length: 34 1/8". Blade is etched over the first 17" with various military, patriotic, and foliate motifs. Brass hilt with a pierced guard. Wire-wrapped leather grip. Iron scabbard with brass rings and drag. The drag is stamped "INDIA". CONDITION: saber shows light wear overall with minor oxidation. (02-22918-1/BF). $400-600.
