1) An example of a US M1872 cavalry officer's sword measuring 39 3/4" overall with a 32" plain unmarked blade with a single medium fuller. Gilded brass hilt with eagle decoration and wire wrapped leather grip. Gilded brass mounted plated scabbard. CONDITION: blade has a light gray patina and the hilt has a mellow brass patina with minute traces of gilded finish remaining. Grip shows moderate wear as does the scabbard. 2) An example of a US M1872 cavalry officer's sword measuring 38 1/2" overall with a 31 1/2" plain unmarked blade with a single medium fuller. Gilded brass hilt with eagle decoration and wire wrapped leather grip. Black painted scabbard with gilded brass mounts. CONDITION: blade has a high polish and the hilt has a mellow brass patina with minute traces of gilded finish remaining. Grip shows light to moderate wear. The scabbard shows wear to the finish and is missing the drag. 3) An example of a US M1872 cavalry enlisted sword measuring 38 3/4" overall with a 32" plain blade with a single medium fuller. The ricasso has been spuriously marked "1862" & "US". Brass undecorated hilt and wire wrapped leather grip. Iron scabbard. CONDITION: blade shows light wear and the hilt has a mellow brass patina. Grip shows moderate wear and is missing most of the wire wrap. The scabbard has a dark patina. (02-24096/BF). NON-GUN. $400-600.
