1) M1860 STAFF & FIELD. This sword measures 36 1/2" overall with a 29 3/4" blade. The diamond cross-section blade is etched with foliate, military, and patriotic motifs. Gilded brass hilt with a folding kidney guard. Foliate-decorated knuckle bow with eagle on the pommel. Sharkskin grip. Gilded brass-mounted plated scabbard. CONDITION: blade has a dark overall patina. The hilt shows only traces of gilded finish, with the balance showing a heavy, dark patina. Grip is 90%, but no wire remains. Scabbard shows heavy oxidation and no gilding on the mounts. The tip is bent and the drag is missing. 2) M1840 MEDICAL STAFF-STYLE. Sword measures 35 1/4" overall with a 30" triangular blade. Gilded brass hilt with plain languets. There is an eagle in an oval on both sides of the grip, with an acorn/pineapple pommel nut. Leather scabbard. CONDITION: blade has an oxidized finish. Hilt shows only traces of original gilding. Scabbard is missing all mounts and is frayed at the end. 3) M1840 MUSICIAN. Overall length: 34". Blade length: 27 1/2". Plain blade has a single medium fuller and is marked at the ricasso "U.S. AHC 1863." Solid brass hilt. No scabbard. CONDITION: blade has a dark, oxidized patina. Hilt has a mellow mustard patina.
