1) ARTILLERY. Overall length: 39 1/2". Blade length: 32 1/8”. Plain blade with a single wide fuller, stamped at the ricasso “U.S A.D.K 1863” and “AMES MFG CO CHICOPEE MASS.” Brass hilt stamped “A.D.K.” on the knuckle bow. Wire-wrapped leather grip. Iron scabbard. CONDITION: blade shows traces of original factory polish. Hilt shows light wear overall. Scabbard does show areas of oxidation, with minor shallow dents concentrated near the drag. 2) CAVALRY. Overall length: 43”. Blade length: 35 3/4". A well-used example of an iron-hilted M1840 cavalry saber by Tiffany. Blade has a single wide fuller with a secondary fuller near the spine. Ricasso is stamped “TIFFANY & CO NEW-YORK” and “P.D.L” in a serrated oval. Iron hilt with a 2-brach semi-basket guard. Wire-wrapped leather grip. Iron scabbard. CONDITION: blade has a dark, somewhat mottled patina. Hilt has a heavy, dark patina with oxidation. Grip leather is approx. 20%. Wire appears complete but is dislodged from its grooves. Scabbard shows an overall oxidized finish but is free of dents. 3) CAVALRY. Overall length: 39”. Blade length: 32 1/4". Plain blade with a single medium fuller. Gilded brass hilt with an eagle on top of the guard. Wire-wrapped, black leather grip. Gilded brass-mounted iron scabbard. There is a chain suspension strap attached to the scabbard. CONDITION: blade has a light gray patina. Hilt shows only traces of original gilding. Grip is 90% intact, and the wire is 100%. Scabbard mounts show a trace of original gilding. Scabbard body has an oxidized finish. (02-22800-6/BF). $800-1,100.
