1) POLITICAL. A good example of an NSDAP Orts level political leader’s visor cap. Cap has a tan wool crown with a brown velvet band. The cap is piped in blue, indicating an Orts level leader. Correct gold eagle on the front of the crown and gold wreath with cockade at the front of the band. Simulated gold bullion chinstrap with gold pebble-finished side buttons. Tan sweatband with golden yellow rayon liner. There is a rounded tip, diamond-shaped sweat shield in the crown. CONDITION: hat generally remains very solid. There are some minor moth nips to the piping, and the piping is a bit faded. Sweatband has some separations but is complete. Sweat shield has a tear but is also nearly complete. 2) AFRIKA CORPS. A fine example of an Army Afrika Corps/tropical M43 cap. Cap has an olive-green body with two vent holes on each side. The front has a light blue Army eagle on a light brown field above a red, white, and black cockade on a brown field. The sweatband is brown cotton, and the entire cap is lined in faded red cotton. The interior stampings are difficult to decipher but appear to read "Bayer Mutzen-F. Munchen M/3 0/0850/038" & "56". There are also the remains of a name in the cap that appears to read "Gefr___". CONDITION: cap does show wear but no abuse. Lining is faded with some sweat stains. 3) NON-MILITARY. A good example of a peaked cap with a navy-blue wool crown and a darker navy velvet band. The entire cap is piped in orange. Simulated leather chinstrap and visor. The front of the band has a small metal wreath with the central insignia missing. The interior has a gray sweatband with a gray rayon liner. The liner is stamped "Peter Cupper Wu.-Ronsdorf Stirndruckfrei Deutches Reichspatent". CONDITION: there are a few small moth nips to the piping. Otherwise, the cap shows very light wear. (02-22929-2/BF). $1,000-1,600.
