MILITARY CARBINES. ALL: cal. 6.5 Carcano. 1) MODEL 1891 TROOP SPECIAL. CAL. 6.5 Carcano. S# A8212. Import marked on right side of bbl. Bbl. 17 3/4". Adj. rear sight graduated to 1500 meters. The troop special carbine was used to equip units which did not require the longer 1891 rifle. The term Troops Special does not refer to special or elite units. Bbl. is marked over chamber w/ "1931 - A - X" / "Faab. Naz D'Armi Brescia.". Straight bolt handle. Carbine is equipped w/ a lug on the upper band to accept a separate bayonet. Cleaning rod is not present. The lower band has side and bottom swivels. Buttstock has side sling bar only. Hardwood stock set. Buttstock is marked on the left side w/ a partly legible oval marking which appears to be date 1925. This has been over stamped w/ a prominent "RE" in the oval which translates to Italian Army. The right side of the butt carries a similar "RE" marking. CONDITION: stock set has extensive wear, staining & handling marks throughout. 1 1/2" crack behind receiver tang. Handguard has crack at the rear approx. 2" long. Forend has extensive crack w/ missing chip along cleaning rod channel. Metal retains 70% arsenal rework black finish w/ thinning & wear. Bore has lightly worn lands, turning dark in grooves. (24-1341/RW). 2) MODEL 1891. S# CAR13509. Original S# XG7881 matches on bbl. & buttstock. Receiver is import marked on left side. Bbl. 17 3/4". Bbl. is marked over chamber w/ "FNA BRESCIA" / "40" / "XVIII" / crown / "RE". Adj. rear sight graduated to 1500 meters. Inverted V front sight. Turned down bolt handle. 14" blade folding bayonet. Hardwood stock set. Buttstock is marked on left side w/ faint partial marking "BRESCIA". Provision for sling on left side. Trap buttplate. CONDITION: stock set has well worn original finish w/ numerous dents & handling marks w/ light staining. Notable dents at nose & right side of buttstock. Bore has worn lands turning dark. (24-1342/RW). 3) MODEL 1891. S# E7341. Numbers match on bbl. and buttstock. Bbl. 17 3/4". Adj. rear sight graduated to 1500 meters. Inverted V front sight. These carbines are often incorrectly called Cavalry carbines but the were issued to many other units as well as cavalry. They are recognizable w/ their permanently fitted folding bayonets. Receiver is unmarked. Bbl. is marked over chamber "FNA BRESCIA" & crown "RE". Marked on right side 1936-XIV" indicating mfg. in the 14th year of the Fascist regime. Bolt has turned down handle & is marked underneath "AA". Hardwood stock & handguard. Provision for sling on left side. Trap buttplate. 14 1/2" folding bayonet w/ triangular blade. Leather type blade lock on right side. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: 2 Cleaning rod sections in butt. CONDITION: stock set has arsenal rework finish w/ added gloss finish, light wear plus scattered handling marks. Metal retains 60% worn, thinning original blue w/ scattered handling marks. Bore is shiny w/ sharp lands & areas of light oxidation. (24-1343/RW). ALL CURIO. $450-600.
