1) GERMAN. A WWII German army dress sword measuring 39" overall with a 33 1/4" blade. Plain blade with a single medium fuller, stamped on the ricasso "(logo) Alcoso SOLINGEN." Gilded brass hilt with a Wehrmacht eagle on the front languet. Oak leaf and acorn-decorated crossguard, quillon, ferrule, knuckle bow, backstrap, and pommel. Wire-wrapped black composite grip. Black enameled iron scabbard. CONDITION: blade shows original factory polish. Hilt and scabbard show light wear. 2) BAVARIAN. A nice Imperial German officer’s sword for a Bavarian unit measuring 39" overall with a 33" blade. The blade has two narrow fullers with a 5" etched panel on each side that reads "In Treue fest" with foliate motifs. Gilded brass hilt with a Bavarian lion on the front languet and a coat of arms on the rear languet. Foliate-decorated ferrule, knuckle bow, backstrap, and pommel. Wire-wrapped horn grip. Black enameled scabbard. CONDITION: blade has significant factory polish. Hilt retains about 30% of its original gilded finish. Grip is undamaged. Wire is complete, though partially dislodged in places. Scabbard shows light wear. 3) GERMAN. An Imperial German officer’s sword measuring 40 1/4" overall with a 33 1/2" blade. Blade has a single medium fuller and is etched with various patriotic, military, and foliate motifs. There is a manufacturer’s mark on the ricasso under the languet that is difficult to interpret. Plain gilded brass hilt with wire-wrapped sharkskin grip. Iron scabbard with gilded brass suspension rings and loops. There is a partial sword strap and buckle attached to one loop. CONDITION: blade has a medium gray patina. Hilt shows traces of original gilding. Grip shows light wear. Scabbard has several shallow dents and an oxidized finish. 4) GERMAN. A Napoleonic to Franco-Prussian War period mounted enlisted man’s saber measuring 39 1/4" overall with a 32 1/2" blade. Plain blade with a large, single fuller. Plain iron hilt with two spade languets. Leather grip with iron ears on both sides. Iron scabbard with a gold-painted finish. CONDITION: blade has a light gray patina. Hilt has a dark, oxidized patina. Grip is 87% complete. Scabbard is undamaged and has approx. 60% gold-painted finish remaining. 5) DANISH. A fine example of a Danish M1867 first model saber bayonet and scabbard, measuring 27 1/2" overall with a 22" plain, single-fullered blade. Blade is marked "____ WEYERSBERG SOLINGEN." Two-piece pressed leather grip with crosshatching. Pommel has a Danish crown stamp above the spring button. Iron-mounted leather scabbard. CONDITINON: blade has a pleasing, light gray patina. Hilt and scabbard generally show light wear. (02-22950-3/BF). $1,000-1,400.
