1) WWII US. This front seam, fixed bale WWII M1 helmet has a sanded field green finish and is equipped with a rare Hawley liner. The liner is stenciled on the rear strap “BIECHLIN, E. R. 94299587”. The liner appears complete and there is an OD cotton chinstrap. CONDITION: helmet shows wear but no abuse. The front leather pad in the liner has some flaking but remains complete. 2) WWII US. This front seam, fixed bale WWII M1 helmet has a lightly sanded, dark field green finish. The front of the helmet has 2 white bars, indicating the rank of Captain. There is a large white bar on the reverse. The left side has the outline of a triangle, and the right side has the outline of an egg. No liner, but chinstrap is complete. CONDITION: light to moderate wear overall. 3) FRENCH. An Adrian style helmet in dark blue/gray paint with missing front plate. The liner is brown leather, and there has been a green felt lining added, likely for display. No chinstrap. CONDITION: helmet finish is approx. 70% with some oxidized areas. Liner is quite dry but complete. 4) EUROPEAN. A European helmet that closely resembles Italian helmets of the M1933 style. This helmet has a sanded OD finish with vents on each side of the front. The interior has a brown leather 4-pad liner with a tan leather jump style chinstrap. CONDITION: helmet shows light wear overall. 5) US. An M1917 helmet with a heavily sanded green finish. Painted cloth liner with netting in the crown. No chinstrap. CONDITION: helmet finish is approx. 50% with some oxidation. Liner is stiff but complete. 6) US. An M1917 helmet shell with a heavily sanded finish that has been overpainted in red, white, blue, & gold. There is a dog tooth pattern around the edges, and the crown has been divided into 4 quadrants displaying an American flag in two, and “US” in two. No liner and partial chinstrap. CONDITION: painted finish is quite folky and remains mostly clear. (02-20916/BF). $600-800.
