FLAG/BANNER. Banner measures approx. 19 1/2" x 14" & is housed in a 2 sided oak & glass frame measuring 23 1/2" x 18". On 1 side the flag body is green w/ a ribbon above that reads, “No 101.A & 4 COMMANDO” & a ribbon below that reads, “UNITED WE CONQUER”. Between the 2 ribbons is a red Marine Amphibious Force symbol. The opposite side resembles the red, white & blue of a French flag. The white section has a lg. Cross of Lorraine above “1er BATAILLON FUSILIERS MARINS COMMANDOS 1941-1945”. The blue section has 8 battles in gold paint including “DIEPPE” & “SCHEVENINGEN”. The red section has 8 battles in gold paint including “D-DAY” & “FLESSINGUE”. Three sides of the flag are bordered in 1 1/4" gold bullion fringe. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: included is a book titled, “Combined Operations The Official Story of the Commandos” published in 1943. The book mentions the exploits of the 4th Commando unit. CONDITION: flag/banner shows very light wear overall. Book shows light to moderate wear. (02-15012/BF). $700-1,000.
