BUTTONS. All of these buttons were manufactured in England during the Civil War and likely imported on a blockade runner.
1) ARTILLERY. A nice example of a stippled Roman "A" Confederate Artillery button. Albert # CS-101-A. Face depicts a stippled "A" on a plain field. The reverse reads, "H T & B * MANCHESTER * ". Full straight shank. CONDITION: button retains most of its original gilded finish.
2) INFANTRY. A nice example of a stippled Roman "I" Confederate Infantry button. Albert # CS-171-A. Face depicts a stippled "I" on a plain field. The reverse reads, "H T & B * MANCHESTER * ". Full straight shank. CONDITION: button retains much of its original gilded finish.
3) INFANTRY. A good example of a stippled Roman "I" Confederate Infantry button. Albert # CS-171-A. Face depicts a stippled "I" on a plain field. The reverse reads, "H T & B * MANCHESTER * ". Full straight shank. CONDITION: button retains areas of its original gilded finish.
4) INFANTRY. A good example of a lined Roman "I" Confederate Infantry button. Albert # CS-172-A1. Face depicts a lined "I" on a plain field. The reverse reads, "SUPERIOR QUALITY . ". Full straight shank. CONDITION: button has a pleasing deep mustard brass patina.
5) ENGINEER. A fine example of a stippled old English "E" Confederate Engineer button. Albert # CS-154-A. Face depicts a stippled "E" on a plain field. The reverse reads, "W.DOWLER . SUPERIOR QUALITY . ". Full straight shank. CONDITION: button retains most of its original gilded finish. There is a tiny push in the center of the button. (02-17716-7/BF). $2,000-2,600.
